Interview style and success…appearance matters!
Think of the best ensemble to wear to your next big job interview. If your first thoughts maybe pleated pants and dull-colored button downs? You’re doing it all wrong. Dressing for an interview doesn’t have to be boring, it’s your chance to show a possible employer your sophisticated style. Looking good and being well-qualified for a position will surely put you at the top of their list.
The first important thing to remember is dress to suit the “office style.” You don’t want to show up overly-dressed for an interview at a company whose sole purpose is to keep their customers comfortable and stylish, or be under dressed for a company who has a strict dress code. For example, for Abercrombie & Fitch, blue skinny jeans with a white, lace tank top and A&F flip flops would probably impress. Obviously, this isn’t something you would turn to if the job opening is at a law firm. If you have questions, it’s okay to ask. Calling ahead and asking for an office dress code isn’t breaking any unwritten rules.
Regardless of whether you’re searching for a job in a corporate setting or wanting to take the plunge as a sales associate at A&F, you want to try your best to stay on the conservative side. Save your Daisy Dukes and maxi skirts for your weekend outings with the girls, and resort to more stylish, conservative choices. In an office setting, skirts should be no higher than knee-length, and cleavage should not be seen. (It’s not what you emphasize, it’s how you emphasize). A classic look, such as a neutral pencil skirt paired with a pop-of-color button down will do the trick (don’t forget the accessories). Another must have item is a fitted blazer. Typically, a black blazer works best, because you can pair it with appropriate dresses and pants. Seriously, all women should own one.
As for you men, don’t think I forgot about you. I have a couple must-follows for you, as well. Be sure to groom, fellas. That’s trim your facial hair, get a haircut, trim your nails, and don’t wear too much cologne. If you think you should wear a tie, wear one, and if you do, make sure it matches your shirt. A solid color paired with a colored shirt, or a simple pattern if paired with a white shirt. Suits are always a good idea, but not completely necessary.
Though properly shined shoes are also important, nothing says, “I’m qualified” quite like a polished resume’ does. Bring all of that with a smile, and there is no way an employer could say no!
And now TEN things men hate about our (women’s) wardrobe!
Dungarees…just doesn’t appeal to the guys.
Shoulder Pads…reminds all of the Dallas and Dynasty era’s and if you are too young to remember this look leaves most men cold!
Granny Chic…nothing shouts spinster more than a prim floral dress. Just add cats!

Clogs, just simply the most unsexy footwear…please no!
Ankle socks with heels. Rihanna may sport this look but it just doesn’t work for us mere mortals.
Leopard print…why do we girls like this print? (I don’t) It shouts tacky, hideous and Pat Butcher!
Jumpsuits…the jury is out here at Shop-your-wardrobe HQ, as if you are tall and lean can be very sexy. Come on guys!
Boyfriend jeans…need we say anymore?
Dr Martens…maybe your teenage daughters…well?? Let’s not go there!
Harem Trousers, may be comfortable but just do not flatter anybody.
20 Things #Women Hate About #Men’s #Wardobes!
Shiny Suits
Flip Flops, unless you are near a beach of course. We just do not want to be looking at “tramp foot” in the work place…
Low cut T shirts…leave these for the boy bands.
Jewellery…an elegant watch or ring, but please no clusters of necklaces…have a word!
Leather trousers, even Brad Pitt cannot pull these off.
Pointy shoes…never a winner.
Harem Trousers with drop crotch, bad on girls and a total tragedy on men!
Vest…unless you want to give a “white van man” image.
Boots over jeans…go for it if you want to look like Louie Spence!
Short shorts, best left for your model girlfriends.
Slogan T Shirts, you what they say about men and sports cars?
Short sleeve shirts with a tie, just doesn’t work. If your hot roll those sleeves in the office.
White trainer socks, fine for the gym but NOT elsewhere!
Cowl neck, simply a feminine look!
Fancy Belts, keep it simple. Wins every time.
The only place for Slippers really is the bedroom!
Snazzy Denim, just result in a saggy lady’s bottom look.
Earings…one is pushing it, but two strikes and you’re out!
“Mantyhose”…tights for men. This may have recently been launch by Emilio Cavallini but please don’t be so ridiculous!
UGG boots for women only.

There are many things that come to my mind and heart to share – everything matters but having engaged in a such a long term relationship with Miami University, I felt like sharing five interesting thoughts which came to me last night. Learning through Travel - Keep an open mind and be ready to receive things that come along the journey - So often, we have an opinion from someone of a place or a culture before heading to a destination – each one of us are made differently - sometimes there are so many hidden truths of a place that are never revealed to us till we experience it ourselves 2) Never ever rush into Judgment - especially about people - there is always another side of a story, a good side - we must always find ways to see the beauty and value of a place or a person or an institution or an art form; half the problems for each of us can be solved if people do not rush into judgment 3) When there is a tough situation in your life, consider this idea - slow down your mind, detach yourself from the sadness and always be bold to walk the path - you will certainly find relief, solutions, breakthrough ideas, extraordinary rewards - but do not expect them soon - they will come to you at the right time because if the rewards come soon, you will not be able to handle it and could be a recipe for disaster 4) Be in touch with the poor - try to think of ways to make their lives better - think of how you can pull them up - there is a hidden virtue in doing this because time and time again, when society ignores the poor, they always perish eventually 5) To live in the umbrella of truth and honesty is so simple and easy if you think about it – having a strong ambition sometimes comes in the way of the truth. To achieve a natural balance takes a lifetime but it is so worth it. In India, we say Satyameva Jayate, which means the truth, will always triumph and in fact, that was the name of my first song collaboration with Mick Jagger from our Band Superheavy I wish to thank a few people who have made a significant impact in my life: My father and mother have anchored me with good values; then Mr. Mani Ratnam who is India’s noted film maker gave me my first break in the world of cinema in the film Roja. My Sufi teachers opened my consciousness and helped me discover myself. People from all around India have embraced me and my music without any discrimination and today, I find the same spirit of acceptance in Hollywood.
Music does not belong to one country or one race of people. When I started listening to Bach, I did not know what religion he was, or which country he came from. What mattered most was the purity of his works. Over the 25 years I have learnt, not merely their instrumental or vocal styles but also absorb the philosophies that have empowered their musical language. But universities can only be the starting point for a long journey ahead. You have to collect new strength now and seek the knowledge in these ancient musical cultures to see how they can give you a new identity.
This graduation day is only the first door that is going to open and show you a never-ending stairway going up. Yes, you have all the talent but the most important equipment that you need to have in order to begin the long climb is a very simple device called a ‘Smile’. Just wear it and you will see how smiles get converted to miles!
All Weather Wardrobe
Forget about April Showers, we need to brace ourselves for whether it will be cold or hot, whether the wind will be circulating your limbs around sodden denims ans squelchy feet…yuck!

Build an A-List All Weather Wardrobe:
Footwear:
Flatforms and gusset shoes (yes really) are, in theory, en vogue and tall enough to get you through puddles safely…
But if sneakers on stilts aren’t your bag, opt for perennial favourite plimsolls or chic Chelsea ankle boots, perfect for tucking jeans into…
Jeans:
Skinny jeans remain a style staple, and an all-weather one at that. Unlike their bootcut and flared counterparts, straighter-leg styles won’t pick up water either and are easily tucked into boots when it rains. And it will rain…Shorts and tights work equally well, as seen on Kate Moss (below).
The Trench:
A wardrobe classic that never dates, you can’t beat a lightweight trench coat nor a Burberry one at that. Best of all, the high street’s awash with fauxberry styles.
A Spring Scarf/Pashmina:
Your head will scream ‘Grace Kelly, zipping down the Amalfi coast in a drop-head with, um, Harry Styles…’ In reality, you’ll end up wrapping it around your head when it rains and you’ve forgotten/lost your umbrella, bnecause you WILL forget and lose your umbrella.

Slides, mules, clogs. That oh so familiar clank-clank sound of backless shoes, have once again come around the fashion merry-go-round and are on every must-have ’IT’ list for spring.
They give you a lift and elongate the leg, they can keep a majority of your foot covered when sandals expose just too much, and they can be rather comfortable.
With that in mind, we’ve considered the best tricks to make them easily work for you.
Take Louis Vuitton’s brogue/mule hybrid (above) and look for a closed toe option with cut-outs for ample coverage during warmer months
Think about adding a brilliantly printed sock or tight for a make-’em notice entrance. Though this trend is best left for the younger ladies.
Avoid kitten heels, lucite and brass heels, thinly banded front straps and anything too feminine as the best options we saw this season have a thoroughly modern, urbane essence to them. Wearing mules needs practice as you may sound somewhat “clippity clomp” so get practicing!
Wardrobe Clearing Tips
Get rid of wire hangers and hang everything facing the same direction in your wardrobe.
Fold knitwear horizontally with arms across the body for far fewer creases. Never hang knitwear unless really chunky then only on a padded hanger.
Velvet hangers are space saving and use much less space.
Remove the plastic packaging from dry cleaned clothes, as the chemicals may continue to be active and cause possible damage.
Resole shows regularly.
If you find shoes too tight, heat them with a hairstyle and wear with a pair of socks. Only leather shoes or boots!
Keep hold of classics that never out date. Riding boots, a great Crombie coat and leather loafers to name but a few.
Storing clothes over the long term are best stored in acid-free tissue. This keeps out any moisture and light.

The color PINK- a trend shade that even the most passionate pink hater (like me) will love

Women of a certain age, anything past early twenties, have previously been perceived to be out of their style, when it comes to brights….particularly the colour PINK.
But take if you take a variety of that colour and energize it, you have got one VERY hot colour palette… worth of a second look.
Fuchsia, poppy, American beauty, neon, hot pink, Tiger Lilly… these are NOT the baby pinks that looked quite inappropriate on anyone beyond their teenage years.
Vivid pinks light up the room and your complexion, so don’t forget the makeup corollary. These brilliant pops of color look fantastic AGAINST your skin, but be careful as they can add years ON your skin.
When it comes to cosmetics, avoid heavy, high pigment bright shades of lipstick. You can get the same color value in a much more flattering manner by using sheer pink lip gloss and gentle washed of a pink blusher.
So step out of your comfort zone…like me you may just love it!
