Six Nations Rugby….the official tailors?

This seems to be high on the bill this weekend, so I though I would take a look at who are the team’s tailors. Having myself worked with some of the finest tailors based here in The UK..Richard James and #TimothyEverest who In 2007 collaborated with M&S and selected by the Football Association as ‘Official Tailor to the England Football team.’ Timothy designed the team’s official suits for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa…

So I expected to find such a name behind our national team….mmmmm not quite. Eden Park are the official formal wear supplier to The RFU. Whilst they have a unique rugby heritage and were founded in 1987 by five international rugby players, they are FRENCH! Over the past 20 years Eden Park has developed into a truly global company and is now available from Paris to Hong Kong, Belfast to Egypt with over 450 sales outlets worldwide. In the UK, there are three stand alone stores with an additional 20 independent outlets including Fenwicks and Browns. This is all very impressive but should we not have considered a UK based designer to represent our country?

It’s not often The Football Association get things right, but surely when it comes to representing our country on such a scale the clothes our team wears is at the forefront…literally!

In the 2010, Timothy Everest received and MBE in the New Year’s Honours list for his “services to the British fashion industry.” Are our national Rugby team not worthy of being represented on the same level?
